Susi Mai is a pro kiteboarder, social entrepreneur, philanthropist and ocean conservationist. Born in Germany, Susi was raised by her windsurfing parents who ran a windsurf school in Italy where she spent her first 6 summers. Her family eventually moved to the Dominican Republic where she was raised. Susi is one of the premier Red Bull athletes and during the 2003 Red Bull King of the Air competiton was given the sports highest female honor: Red Bull Queen of the Air. In 2007 she Co-Founded MaiTai Global together with Sillicon Valley VC Bill Tai. MaiTai Global is a group of extraordinary entrepreneurs, innovators and athletes. Participants combine their energy, network and resources to help each other achieve professional success, pushing the limits of work and play while also fueling philanthropic activities around the world. The MaiTai Global community has an incredibly accomplished professional network who’s collective passion brings them together in an extreme environment. In early February 2019, Susi organized the inaugural Ocean Summit, which brought together a diverse group of scientists, policymakers, entrepreneurs, investors, explorers, artists, and athletes gathered on Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island with a mission to protect the ocean.
