Shelley is a scientist, a surfer and a passionate protector of the environment. As CEO she sets Heal the Bay’s advocacy and education priorities, forms strategic alliances across sectors, and builds public awareness and participation in environmental problem solving. Shelley holds a Doctorate of Environmental Science and Engineering from UCLA, and began her advocacy career at Heal the Bay as a staff scientist from 2001-2005. She was the executive director at the Santa Monica Bay Restoration Commission, the Bay Foundation, and the Environment Now Foundation before rejoining Heal the Bay as President and Chief Executive Officer in 2017.
