Davida Herzl is the CEO and co-founder of Aclima. Under Herzl’s leadership, Aclima has developed a sensing platform that combines cloud computing and machine learning to make sense of the invisible world around us, at scales never before possible and at a fraction of the cost of traditional methods. Herzl has brought together public and private players, including Google and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, to use the power of environmental sensor networks to map pollution at the human scale. Aclima was recently named a 2017 World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer, a 2018 Cleantech Global 100 Company, and one of Fast Company’s top World Changing Ideas of 2018. In June 2017, Aclima’s methods were featured in Environmental Science & Technology when Aclima, Google, the Environmental Defense Fund and University of Texas at Austin published results of a year-long mobile mapping campaign to measure hyperlocal air pollution in Oakland, CA. This research was selected as the "Best Environmental Technology Paper" of 2017. Herzl also founded NextEarth Group in 2004 -- a family of entrepreneurs and companies dedicated to a more compassionate, equitable and environmentally intelligent world. At NextEarth, she was a trusted advisor to leading philanthropists and Fortune 500s working to invest capital and resources for the advancement of global sustainability. The inspiration for Aclima emerged from this work.
