On the Amazon Day, September 5, the Friends of the Amazon - a fund to protect people and nature was launched. It is a private fund, exclusively to receive donations from citizens, foundations and private companies.

The strategy is to support successful programs and projects so that they can be improved and multiplied. The premise is that there are many promising initiatives that can have short, medium and long term results, developed by Amazonian institutions, in collaboration with institutions from other regions and countries.

The Friends of the Amazon was conceived as a plural and open initiative, capable to host different initiatives and networks that work in the nine countries of the Amazon.
